Hrithik Roshan has been missing from the scene for sometime now. And if you are still wondering what's up with Bollywood's 'Greek God', well he has been busy on the sets of Ashutosh Gowarikar's magnum opus Mohenjo Daro. The hunk, who has no releases this year, is spending all his time and energy on this August 2016 release. We're all aware of the kind of dedication he puts into his films, so it's no surprise that Hrithik, despite a slip disc, has returned to shoot for the film much earlier than what his doctors advised.
Ashutosh, who is said to have fiercely guarded the films' sets and the looks of his actors, can't really help matter now that several pictures of a sequence in Jabalpur have found their way online. Take a look.
So what's the deal with the mega project? Here's some dope.
1. Mohenjo Daro boasts of grandeur with romance, action and adventure all rolled in to the plot.
The film is touted to be a love story set in 2600 BC. Set in the times of the ancient Indus Valley Civilisation, the movie set for a big release next year. We can't wait to see how the Ashutosh and Hrithik combo will spell magic one more time. Their 2008 blockbuster Jodhaa Akbar, got both critical and commercial success. So expectations are quite high.
2. The film will teleport the audience into a never-seen-before world.
The story dates back to a time when savagery, bravery and wit were essential to survive. So Ashutosh is leaving no stone unturned to recreate the old world on the silver screen. According to reports, Mohenjo Daro will be the biggest and most expensive film of 2016.
3. Hrithik will be seen performing some dare-devil stunts yet again.
The 41-year-old actor, it seems, has impressed his director with the amount of hardwork and physical stress he is putting in the dream project. According to Ashutosh, Hrithik is 'pushing all limits' to perform them. The film reportedly has Hrithik in an action sequence with a fake 20-foot-long crocodile. He will also be seen fighting tigers. Celebrity fitness trainer Satyajit Chaurasia has trained him for the fights. Some edge of your seat action is in store for us then!
4. It has large sets, and larger-than life characters.
While a big part of the film was shot in Bhuj, the film's unit is now in Jabalpur for the next schedule. Majority of the shooting will be done in South Africa too. With the film being set in a certain period, the major portion of the film and the historic site has been recreated in a film studio.
5. Hrithik will romance debutant Pooja Hegde.
A former beauty queen, Pooja makes her shift to Bollywood from Tamil and Telugu cinema with Mohenjo Daro.
6. The scripting followed intense research about the historical era.
Superficial information available about life during that civilization did trouble Ashutosh, who decided that the story will follow the discovery of Mohenjo Daro, the culture and the vibe of the ancient civilisation, and will largely center around a love story. During his three years of research he met seven archaeologists who had been closely involved in documenting the discovery of the Indus Valley Civilisation. The stunt-coordinator of Hollywood franchise Hobbit Trilogy, Glenn Boswell has also joined the crew of Mohenjo Daro to plan the film's action.
7. Hrithik's fees forms half of the film's entire budget.
According to reports, Hrithik is being paid as much as Rs 50 crores, which is exactly half the film's budget. If true, it will be interesting to see how Ashutosh will make the CGI-intensive film in half the budget. And with such an expensive package, Hrithik has become one of the highest-earning Bollywood stars.
8. AR Rahman continues with his association with Ashutosh Gowarikar.
Can we expect some more heartfelt melodies from Rahman? Ofcourse we can! The tracks from Jodhaa Akbar, Swades and Lagaan are still in our playlists. Right?
9. Hrithik took to social media requesting his fans for their support during shooting.
Hrithik asked his fans and the locals of Jabalpur to allow the film's crew to carry out the shoot without any glitches. We can't blame his fans for getting into a frenzy ever since the news about the film's shoot broke.
