9 Sports Partnerships That Really Worked and How!

We’ve always heard that two heads are better than one, right? Guess what? It’s no different when it comes to sports! As close as you will get to the ‘bro code, this is one bond among allies that makes up the best sporting partnerships. Here are nine that rocked and how!

    1. Mike Tyson and Cus D’Amato

Former American professional boxer Mike Tyson gives the credit of his success to D’Amato. Who? He’s the one who helped Tyson gain confidence, train him through visualisation techniques & also adopted Tyson when his mother passed away. Pity that D’Amato passed away in 1985, just before Tyson became the youngest World Heavyweight Champion. #AllHeart

    2. Courtney Walsh and Curtly Ambrose

The West Indies fast bowling alliance of Walsh and Ambrose is the stuff of legends. What this duo has managed to achieve in cricket is nothing short of mind-blogging. In a test match in 1992, against South Africa, the visitors required just 79 runs on the last day and had lost just two wickets. Ambrose and Walsh stepped in to [#ReadOurLips] rip apart the opposition for just 26 runs. #LegendaryOrWhat?

    3. Michael Schumacher and Ross Brawn

Known to be the brain behind Michael Schumacher’s successful career, Ross Brawn was the technical director at Benetton and Ferrari with Schumacher (the genius) behind the wheel. Known to be the most successful partnership in motorsports, together, they  won seven World Constructors’ Championships and seven World Drivers’ Championships from 1994 to 2006. #Phew

    4. Tiger Woods and Steve Williams

Wait! It’s not what you think. This was before the ‘lady luck crisis’ ever hit him. Williams, a close friend of Tiger Woods, was his caddy from 1999 to 2011. During this period, Tiger went on to win 14 major games and Williams was given the credit of helping him. That’s not all. Williams is also known to have fought with a fan who took a picture of Woods during his swing. #AnythingKaregaForDosti

    5. Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean

    Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean
Former British, European, Olympic and World Champion ice dancers [you read that right!], Jane and Christopher became the highest scoring figure skaters of all time. At the 1984 Winter Olympics they received twelve perfect 6.0s and six 5.9s. Technicalities aside, they remain to be a five-time World Professional Champion duo.

    6. Dennis Lillee and Jeff Thomson

#MoreOverUmarGul This fast bowling duo intimidated batsmen heads on during their impressive partnerships for Australia. This nerve-wrecking pair was brutal with Thomson bowling around 110mph, the fastest ever recorded. He took 675 wickets in his first-class career, and but Dennis Lillee grabbed the headlines by taking 882 wickets. #BowledOverByStats

    7. Gordon Greenidge and Desmond Haynes

In the 80s [way before most of us were born] they formed a formidable partnership for the West Indies who went on to have 16 centuries, of which four were over 200. Combined they made 6,482 runs which still remains an unbeatable target for any other cricketing duo.

    8. Steve Redgrave and Matthew Pinsent

Redgrave and Pinsent became rowing marvels thanks to their exceptional wins in the Olympics. The duo joined hands in the coxless pairs to win golds in Barcelona in 1992 and Atlanta in 1996. Two of the greatest athletes Britain has ever had, they also took golds when they were not together. #SheerBrilliance
And just like these celebrated partnerships, there is a new one that is making quiet waves - The one between between FC Barcelona and Gatorade.

    9. FC Barcelona And Gatorade

     Messi
FC Barcelona with its star forward Lionel Messi, has been dominating European football in the last decade. Meanwhile behind the scenes, Gatorade and Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI) have been working side-by-side with FCB’s training staff to build an incredible nutrition program. They have partnered to create a program that personalises the electrolyte intake and fluid recommendations for each individual player. The results of this could clearly be seen last year when Barcelona made history by becoming the first European club to win the Treble for a second time.
