It's really okay to not believe in ghosts. I mean, being afraid of something we haven't seen does sound a little irrational. The same logic should apply to god as well, because believing in god but not in ghosts is a bit hypocritical. Personally, I don't believe in either, but I do believe in the power of a superior being. But a bunch of people across the world have either felt, or experienced an evil power in some way or the other. We caught hold of these honest ghost confessions that are scary as hell, even for a non-believer. This isn't a shoddy RGV film. These actually happened, and what these people witnessed, needs to be told.
1. Forest Drive
"This is a terrible experience I had when I was 18 years old only and had gone to visit Purulia (a district of West Bengal) with my college friends. We had booked a forest bungalow from Calcutta. By the time we reached Purulia Station it was already evening. We hired a Tata Sumo to reach at our forest bungalow, but driver told us that the road, through which we have to go, was not good at all, especially in night. We asked him why, but he didn't say anything. After repeatedly requesting, and offering double charge, he agreed to drive us to the bungalow.
The roads were broken, no road lights either. It was too dark and we couldn't see anybody around. Driving for over an hour, but being nowhere close to our destination worried us a little, especially with the condition of the roads. We asked our driver about the ETA. He seemed very confused, told us he knew the road well but probably took a wrong turn in dark. Meanwhile, we also had become very worried, the place was really unknown and it didn't look safe. Just then, we saw a lady, not so far away from the car, walking along the dark road. We thought that the lady was probably a local in the village. We couldn't see the lady's face, her back was facing us. "Hey Madam, can you tell us which was the right way to go to forest bungalow, please?" we shouted.
The lady stopped walking, but didn't look at us, neither did she respond. We thought she couldn't hear clearly, so we asked again. After a while she just extended her right hand silently, to the right side of the jungle. Thanking her, the driver changed the way to the right side of the jungle. It was just then that one of our friends suddenly screamed-"Look, look, see the lady!"
We all looked back and saw her drifting in the air, about 3 to 4 feet above the ground. Seeing this, we shouted out loudly and asked the driver to drive as fast as he could.
Finally reaching the bungalow we told the people there about our scary experience, the maids and hotel boys told us that the road was haunted and no one dares to walk through that road at night. Apparently many rural women had been murdered there while returning home from their workplace. So ladies of their village, even men, never walk through that road at night."
2. The Haunted Beach
"I was into my early twenties on 31st December 2007. My college friends and I wanted to do something different than the usual parties. So the five of us went to a liquor store, bought a few beers and started driving on the East Coast Road (E.C.R) freeway. This road is a scenic beauty, with the beach on the left side and bamboo trees all along giving it a spooky feel while driving at night. Now, one of my friends suggested going to the 'Ghost Beach'. I think everybody knows about the Tsunami that hit the southern part of Asia in 2004 (Dec 24th) killing more than 5 lakh people. India lost around one lakh lives. Ghost Beach got its name only after the tsunami had washed away an entire fishermen village in floods, it is believed that the beach is haunted. We all decided to go to the beach before 12 and party there for New Years, which wasn't a good idea, but then we wanted something different for the New Year, so we did end up going.
As soon as we entered the place, the mood became a little sad, this one friend started talking about his deceased girlfriend and started crying. The other one started speaking about how his mom died. We did not know why were talking about such things, but the place made us really gloomy. We went and checked out the broken buildings, schools that still had the broken toys of the kindergarten students. It was very, very depressing. So we drove to the shore and started drinking. We hadn't even had a sip of the beer, when suddenly we heard a woman screaming like she was calling out to people around the neighborhood for help. We thought somebody was trying to molest a girl, so my friend started the car to turned on the lights. We could not see anybody. But all of us wanted to help, so we started following the voice before we realized that the place is completely deserted, there was no one at this time of the hour, let alone a woman.
I alarmed my friends , and asked to regroup immediately. One friend was missing. We tried calling his phone but he wouldn't answer. We turned on the flashlights from our phones and searched for him everywhere, but in vain. When we got back near the car, we saw him sitting inside the car, crying. He stopped the ignition and turned off the lights immediately. Scared, we told him it was us, but he wouldn't believe. I went and sat next to him, to comfort him. We decided to leave the place immediately. Since it was a single road, we had to reverse the car all the way, until we reach the highway. As soon as I started the ignition, I saw a old woman standing in front of the car with her head down. Her hair was covering the face and it looked as if she was staring at us. All of us screamed and I started reversing the car as fast as possible. The lady started running towards us, gaining speed with every passing step. Luckily we came to the highway and sped to the city immediately. We did not utter a word to each other in the car.
Later, when we discussed about it to the locals near to the village, they said spotting the woman was a common occurrence. It is believed that on the day when the Tsunami struck the village, she was calling out for help. The ambulance could not reach the village as the road was too small. Many of her villagers, including her, died there."
3. Ghost in Moonlight
"This is something I experienced 3 years back. I stay at Salt Lake, Calcutta. Before my dad's retirement we were eagerly seeking for a house or bungalow. After long time searching, we found a 10 year old bungalow in a posh locality in Salt Lake. We were just 4 members in the family. My parents, myself and my younger sister. The owner of that bungalow was eager to sell it as soon possible for some reason, he eventually sold it at a very low rate. He told to us that his wife committed suicide there by hanging herself and after the deal, he would leave India for ever.
Ever since we shifted to that bungalow in 2008, we would come across some mysterious experiences. On the second morning, while having breakfast, my younger sister Rita asked us if anyone of us had been working in kitchen, the previous night until 2:00 am. We really got surprised hearing this, we told her that none of us had been in kitchen that night. Rita, shocked, said that just at 2:00 am she woke up to a mysterious noise, it seemed like someone had been walking in the kitchen, moving the cooking utensils etc.
She thought perhaps mom had been in the kitchen, so she didn't give importance to it. But now she was really taken aback. We laughed it off, and assured her that might have been the rats in that old house or she might heard it wrong in her sleep. That very night, I had a terrible experience. Later that night, I woke up to a mysterious sound. At first it seemed like a woman crying in this house. It was an unfamiliar voice. The voice was haunting, it seemed like a woman was crying in deep pain. Rita was sleeping beside me, I didn't wake her up, I worked up the courage to leave the bed and followed the noise. After sometime it seemed like the voice was coming from the toilet. So I went near the toilet, which was latched from the outside.
I waited there for a few minutes and made sure that the noise coming from just there. After a while I opened the door halfway. The moonlight had lit up the bathroom. I saw a woman's apparition. She seemed to be hanging herself. I saw a long rope also. As I was watching her, it seemed to me she looked at me and extended her hand towards me. I cried in fear and I couldn't remember what happened after that. The next morning I found myself on bed, and my family standing around me. I told them everything.
My parents arranged a hawan to get rid of all the evil spirits. Thankfully, there were no such occurrences after."
4. Journey With A Corpse
"Well this is not a ghost story, but an incident that I can never forget. This story is about ten years old. There's a railway station named 'Park Circus' in southern Kolkata. A decade back, it was a very small station. Only few trains had stoppages on that station.
I was returning home from a job interview and thought I'd get a local train from that station towards Sealdah (a terminal station which adjoins the city and suburbs). When I was just a few feet away from the platform, I saw a train had just come and was to leave the platform. Knowing very well that if I would miss that train, the next one would only come after an hour, I started running and got in the train but all the lights of that compartment were off. It was completely dark and there was no one in that compartment.
I thought may be I got the vendor compartment, because it was smelling like hell. When the train took its full speed, something touched my feet and was rolling around. I did not understand what it was, something like a football that kept rolling towards me. Near Sealdah station, the street lights outside would light up the compartments. It was in that dim light that I saw three dead bodies, drenched in blood were kept inside that compartment. These people had met with a train accident somewhere and were headed towards Sealdah. I later figured the football like thing which was rolling over was the head of one of the dead bodies. The head was just in front of me.
I was shivering in a fear, due to which, I kicked that head so hard that it fell outside the train. As soon the train entered the station, I jumped on the platform and fainted. Some R. P. F. Personnel helped me and I was taken to the N. R. S. Hospital near Sealdah station. Doctors discharged me after treatment of the injuries and bruises due to sudden jump and fall from a running train. I still get nightmares of the head sometimes."
5. Haunted Hotel Room
"That was the year of 1999. I was visiting Mumbai, accompanied by my parents. There we booked a hotel room, it was pretty, facing the sea. But our trip would turn into a nightmare, very soon. We noticed that hotel manager hesitated for a while to handover the key of that room to us. The whole day was spent on the beach, under the sun. By the time we reached our hotel after shopping, it was already 10 pm. After returning I entered the bathroom and while standing in front of the mirror, I saw an apparition moving very fast from one side to another. I turned around, it was gone. I thought that was a mistake, so I didn't bother much.
That night my dad's scream woke us up. We saw him shivering with fear. We asked him very eagerly what happened. A horrible looking woman was trying to throttle him and asking him in angry voice 'Tell me, where is my husband? Otherwise I'll kill you'. We assured my father that it was just dream.
Later, me and my mother were discussing about that mysterious incident, when suddenly my father got into a fit of rage and tried to strangle both of us. We'll never be able to forget that moment. My father's voice turned into female voice and his face was just pale. He was crying - 'Tell me, tell me, where is my husband? He had killed me here, I want justice. Yes, I want justice. Tell me, where is my husband?' We were shouting and tried to escape from him. At that moment the hotel boys and manager came and held him down.
As we came out of the room, my father also became normal. Later, the hotel manager told us that five months ago a couple had booked that room. Next morning the woman was found dead, and her husband went missing."
6. The Spirit in Love
When I was an undergraduate student, I came across a classmate who had a deep belief in the paranormal. Out of curiosity I asked her the reason, what she narrated freaked me out-
"We belong to a rural place. For the study purpose we moved to a nearby city. Rent was too high to pay. We found a landlord who would agree to give his floor at very cheap rate. In the beginning, we were amazed but soon we realized why.
As a child, I used to hear real life ghost stories but never believed in it. We started hearing unknown noises. At night, we would hear somebody running on the empty roof. Very often we would feel like someone is behind us, following us, watching us constantly. Eventually I saw the spirit of that girl, wandering in my house. We started asking around and found out that the girl had an affair with landlord's son. Landlord did not like this one bit, and sent his son abroad. The girl committed suicide, and her spirit is still waiting for him at this place. Whenever the landlord would visit, that spirit wouldn't let his family in peace. They'd get slapped, pushed, hear disturbing noises, among other things.
One day while I was clicking a picture, something amazed me. I could see her apparition clear behind me - sticking to wall. Since then, I have started believing in ghosts. However ghost of this girl does not disturb us anymore."
7. Haunted Terrace
"This incident happened on 31st December 2014. I, along with 5 other friends arranged a small party to celebrate the New Year. All was well until the midnight. After our meal we decided to spend the night on the roof .We were listening to music and were playing cards. Suddenly weird things started happening. It was all dark, the only light we had was a bulb and light from the speaker. We were feeling uneasy, and I personally felt like I was being watched. At first I ignored it, then I heard the sound of an anklet coming from a distance.
It continued, we all heard the sound. We were not sure what it was. We looked everywhere but there was no one to be seen. We smoked, and resumed playing. Then again. That sound came, and this time it felt like it was closer to us, the sound was louder. We all started feeling uneasy.
I downloaded the Hanuman Chalisa on my phone and played it on the speaker. Things got normal, that sound stopped. It was past 2:30 am and for the next half an hour, there was no sound but a black cat constantly kept pacing around the place, coming and going. We felt safer without the sound but then things turned really bad. The cat that was roaming around came towards us. It had a very strange look on its face. We started panicking, suddenly it ran as if it was scared, we had no clue what was going on, or what it was scared of. A friend of mine couldn't take it anymore, and wanted to rush down, switching off the lights along with the speaker. We somehow stopped him as we didn't want to leave him alone, we switched on the lights again. Then we sat there and started talking. After nearly 15-20 min the speaker went silent but the small light in the speaker was on. I thought someone was calling. I checked my phone, the music player was playing the song, no missed calls and no messages either.
We got really suspicious about the speakers stopping all of a sudden. We were very scared by now, we thought we were going to get possessed. We thought of waiting for the final warning. We decided if cat comes again or if the light goes off, we will leave the place immediately. Then that cat showed up again. Scared out of our wits, we ran down leaving everything behind.
The next morning we came to know that there was a teenage girl who died a month ago. She was haunting that place. We didn't offer food to her soul before eating so she felt disrespected and angry."
