In our times, over-thinking has somewhat become a disease. In fact, in all likelihood, it will become a recognized disease real soon. Like depression. Think about it, most of our friends, and parents indulge in it way too often. And here's why we shouldn't.
1. It has absolutely no end.
Over-thinking is addictive. And in no time, it becomes a constant state of mind. You imagine situations, problems and consequences and it just goes on and on. Prevent your brain from wandering too much. Else you’ll be entering a very dangerous area in life.
2. It makes you way more presumptuous.
I think this is what he meant. I think she thinks I'm arrogant. The 'I think' syndrome takes over your life. And it just ruins you and your relationships with your loved ones.
3. It is a sign of being complicated.
If you think too much, you definitely have no concrete opinion or idea. To simplify, you make your own life complex by letting your inner conflicts unnecessarily torture you. You, and only you, are the problem.
4. It makes you ignore your heart.
Because the mind is weird and it tends to get lost in unknown places. And no matter how cliché it sounds, it condemns what your heart is trying to tell you. Life will be much easier if you listen to your instincts rather than solving the puzzle your mind is creating for you.
5. It creates new, absolutely unnecessary problems.
Over-thinking creates new problems, and more and more of them. And suddenly, you realize your whole life has become a problem in itself. Highly dangerous, isn’t it?
6. You are either stuck in the past, or you are way ahead in an imaginary future.
In other words, you are everywhere but in the present. And that is just not healthy. STOP NOW.
7. It is a waste of very precious time.
Because you spend just too much time indulging in it.
8. Over-thinking hampers brainstorming.
It has been scientifically proven that over-thinking prevents you from thinking creatively. And you don't want that.
9. An overdose of introspection is a bad idea.
If your excuse for over-thinking is that you are introspecting, you're doing it wrong. It is necessary to know yourself and face your life crisis, but you need a break from all those useless thoughts that are probably not even helping you introspect.
10. It makes you an annoying person.
You over-think and then you call your friends and bug them. You annoy them with your 'what-if’s' and 'if-onlys'.
11. Most importantly, it hampers with your decision-making ability.
This or that?
If you are stuck asking all these questions, you are hardly making the right decisions. You are stuck with infinite possibilities, which essentially attribute to your indecisiveness.
