Sorry Apple, Siri is still a disappointment and so is Microsoft’s Cortana. Here, meet M, Facebook’s latest attempt to take over the internet, and eventually, your life.
A virtual personal assistant, M is Facebook’s very first attempt at Artificial Intelligence. But the catch is that it’s creepily way more advanced than the likes of Siri and Cortana. It’s almost like a human and a machine working hand in hand. BuzzFeed US tested out the limited trial version of M on the messenger app and they were blown away with the response. Here, take a look .
Not only did it seamlessly sort out the article the user had asked for, it even successfully recognized that the user was the author of the article that M was asked to search for.
And then, there was this one M user who showed up thanking M to help him lower his Comcast bill. M literally researched his usage and told him how much he was paying more.
Wondering how M does that? Well, M is not just a AI robot but a AI robot that works in synchronization with humans. Yes, it was not M that made a call to the Comcast office; it was a human working at the backend. M only studied the guy’s Comcast usage. While still in the testing phase, if Facebook is able to completely realize the potential of M, Apple, Google and Microsoft will really need to amp their game up!
