The second largest diamond in the world has been found by a Botswana mining company weighing more than a thousand carat.
The gigantic rock is only second to the biggest rock on the planet weighing 3,106 Carats which was found almost 100 years back in 1905.This diamond, however, has the potential to produce the largest pure diamond in the world from its current rough form.
The Lucara, as it is being called, is roughly 1000 times the size of an average wedding ring and measures 65mm x 56mm x 40mm. The dimensions of these kinds are rare and the diamond is set to break the record when it is valued later this month. Blue Moon Josephine holds the current record for the highest value of 31.9 million pounds.
Considering it took almost a hundred years to unearth this big rock after the Cullilan (the biggest diamond in the world), it wouldn’t be a big surprise if Lucara remains the biggest rock for the next two centuries.
