We’ve all done embarrassing things when we were drunk – called our exes, said stupid things, taken terrible pictures, posted those terrible pictures on social media, and what not. As it turns out, even vegetarians are not immune to this tendency to do stupid things. A study conducted in the UK found that around one third of vegetarians eat meat when they are drunk.
The study involved almost 1,800 vegetarians, however their ethnicity is unknown. When they were asked whether or not they have eaten meat when they were drunk, 63% of them said no, but 37% said yes.
The 37% of people were asked how often they eat meat when they are drunk. Here’s what they said:
• 34% said they eat meat every time they are drinking
• 26% said they eat meat fairly often when they are drinking
• 22% said they rarely eat meat when they are drinking
• 18% said they occasionally eat meat when they are drinking
• 26% said they eat meat fairly often when they are drinking
• 22% said they rarely eat meat when they are drinking
• 18% said they occasionally eat meat when they are drinking
The meat dish also comes with a side order of shame.
69% of people who ate meat when they were drunk said that they didn’t admit it to other people, because they were so ashamed of what they had done.
They were also asked which types of meat they prefer, and kebabs, beef burgers and bacon were the most popular answers, while fried chicken and pork sausages were less popular.
