Getting their primary school-aged children lessons in coding is the newest craze among young parents in China. They believe that getting the children early lessons would help their future job prospects in an increasingly competitive job market.
Children are being taught to use Scratch, a project developed by the MIT Media Lab and Arduino, which enables users to create interactive objects such as robots.
The kids are introduced to the programme using simple games and then they are encouraged to create similar things on their own.
Many also feel that encouraging children to learn computer programming can help China to become a serious software player and not just a mass manufacturer and a component supplier.
While many think that this will help the children securing jobs, some feel that such a move could only burden them in such a tender age.
