After playing 'god' onscreen in 2003's super hit film Bruce Almighty and its sequelEvan Almighty, Oscar Winning Actor Morgan Freeman is involved in another 'godly' project. Yes! Freeman is now in Varanasi, India and he is shooting for a documentary titled The Story Of God. This documentary is based on religions of the world. It is a collaboration of national Geographic channel and Revelations Entertainment. The new global series called The Story Of God, will be hosted by Morgan Freeman.
The actor was spotted wearing a blue kurta, comfort fit bottoms and a white hat at Vajra Vidya Sansthan and in Sarnath. Apart from hosting the show, Freeman is also the executive producer for the series. This 78-year-old actor was seen shooting the famous Ganga Aarti at the Lalitha Temple and Scindia Ghat, Varanasi.
Even though this documentary is based on different religions across the globe, Freeman is in India to primarily cover Hinduism and Buddhism. For a few sections on Buddhism, scenes were also shot at Sarnath. According to reports, the best part about India's schedule was Freeman took the boat ride across banks of Ganga. He admitted spending some hours on the holy ghats in the town and he thoroughly enjoyed the same.
In an interview, he said,
"The Story Of God is one of the greatest mysteries and most important ideas in the world. For me, this is a personal and enduring quest to understand the divine, and I am humbled by the opportunity to take viewers along on this incredible journey."
Future schedule of the shoot includes him visiting some of the world's greatest religious sites, such as Jerusalem's Wailing Wall, India's Bodhi Tree, the Mayan temples and the Lakewood Church in Texas to unravel mysteries of the creator.This show will be on air from 2016, in 171 countries and 45 different languages. Yes, it's going to be one grand and mass appealing show!
