Chennai has been waiting for an IMAX and it finally seems to be getting one. Chennai's Luxe owned by Jazz Cinemas will now throw open the city and state's first IMAX on November 20. When people logged onto the Jazz Cinemas website on Tuesday, they were pleasantly surprised to find that IMAX is set to open this week.
Luxe, a 11-screen multiplex at Phoenix Mall, was launched and set up by the popular SPI Cinemas in the city and was taken over by Jazz Cinemas some months back. According to documents sourced byThe Hindu, the directors of Jazz Cinemas are Karthikeyan Kaliaperumal and Sivakumar Koothaippar Sathiamoorthy. Jazz Cinemas Private Limited was formerly known as Hot Wheels Engineering Private Limited. The Hindu on November 2 reported that this name change was effected last year in a meeting in the presence of V K Sasikala and her relative J Ilavarasi.
